Springfield Armory announced the addition of three factory Aimpoint COA-equipped pistols to its 1911 and 1911 DS Prodigy lineup on May 26, extending the closed-emitter red dot treatment that debuted on the Echelon 9mm to some of the company's most established duty-grade platforms. The announcement, published through The Outdoor Wire, covers the 1911 DS Prodigy 4.25 COA in 9mm, the 1911 TRP COA in .45 ACP, and the 1911 Operator COA in .45 ACP — all shipping factory-milled for the Aimpoint A-CUT interface with the optic pre-installed.

The Aimpoint COA carries a standalone MSRP of $617. Springfield's bundle pricing undercuts buying the pistol and optic separately by nearly $200 across all three models. The COA is a closed-emitter design featuring a 3.5-MOA red dot in a 15×15mm window, four night-vision-compatible brightness levels and eight daylight settings, and water resistance rated to 25 meters. Aimpoint rates its battery life at more than five years on a single CR2032. The optic weighs 1.7 ounces.

Each model addresses a different segment of the 1911 buyer. The 1911 DS Prodigy 4.25 COA 9mm is built on a double-stack chassis with a polymer grip module mounted to a forged steel frame, offering 18+1 capacity in the shorter 4.25-inch barrel format suited to competition and concealed carry. Its MSRP is $1,955. The 1911 TRP COA .45 ACP represents the top of the new lineup in both price and specification, with a 5-inch forged slide and frame hand-fitted in black Cerakote, 20-lines-per-inch checkering, top slide serrations to cut down glare, and two eight-round magazines, at an MSRP of $2,424. The 1911 Operator COA .45 ACP occupies the duty-configuration slot: 5-inch forged platform, Picatinny rail, G10 grips, ambidextrous safety, and two eight-round mags with bumper pads, at $1,623.

Springfield originally launched the Aimpoint COA platform on the Echelon striker-fired pistol before expanding into the 1911 format. Moving that optic system into the classic 1911 family pairs one of the most trusted duty pistol designs on the market with an optic that shares its long-service philosophy. The TRP and Operator have both earned adoption in law enforcement and competitive shooting over the years; adding factory-fitted COA versions offers buyers who already trust those platforms a ready-to-go optics package without the additional steps of sourcing an optic, arranging slide milling, and re-zeroing after the fact.

The DS Prodigy COA adds a high-capacity 9mm option for practical shooters who want the ergonomics and accuracy of a double-stack 1911-style pistol with a closed-emitter dot already dialed in. By handling the milling and optic installation at the factory, Springfield keeps the pistol under warranty through the full build and removes the guesswork about slide tolerances that can accompany aftermarket work.

American Rifleman reported on the lineup the same day as the announcement, noting the effective per-unit savings on the optic. All three models are listed as available now through Springfield Armory dealers nationwide.
