Guns & Gear HQ is a pro-Second-Amendment enthusiast publication covering the U.S. firearms industry. Our readers include enthusiasts, dealers, manufacturers, and lawful gun owners. These standards describe how we report, source, and correct our work.
Sourcing
Every news story on Guns & Gear HQ is grounded in a primary source — typically a federal agency announcement (ATF, DOJ, SEC), a court filing, a manufacturer press release, congressional testimony, or original reporting from established outlets in the firearms beat (The Reload, AmmoLand, Bearing Arms, Reuters, AP, Bloomberg, The Wall Street Journal). When we draw on another publication’s reporting, the publication is named and linked inline within the same sentence as the claim. We do not aggregate behind generic citations.
Editorial review
Every story is reviewed by the editor before publication. We verify dates, names, and factual claims against primary sources. When a claim cannot be independently verified, we either qualify it explicitly (“according to X”) or hold the story until it can be confirmed. We do not file rumor or speculation as news.
Independence
Guns & Gear HQ accepts no payment, sponsorship, or paid placement in exchange for editorial coverage. Reviews of products are independent and based on the editor’s assessment. We participate in affiliate-link programs (including AvantLink) on some product pages; these links are disclosed where they appear and never influence whether a product is covered or how it is described. Sponsored content, if it ever runs, will be clearly labeled as such and segregated from editorial.
Accuracy and corrections
Errors of fact are corrected promptly and noted at the bottom of the affected story. If the correction is material — a wrong name, a wrong date, a misstated fact that changes the substance of the story — we update the headline if necessary and flag the change explicitly.
If you spot an error, please write to gear@gunsgearhq.com with the URL of the story and the specific claim you believe is wrong. We respond to correction requests within two business days.
Editorial voice
Guns & Gear HQ writes from a pro-Second-Amendment, pro-lawful-gun-owner perspective. We do not pretend to be neutral on the question of whether the right to keep and bear arms is worth defending. We do, however, hold ourselves to factual accuracy: we do not invent statistics, fabricate quotes, or characterize legal firearms or lawful gun owners using rhetoric drawn from gun-control advocacy. We cover legislative, regulatory, and legal stories on their merits and trust readers to draw their own conclusions.
