Savage Arms added a Mossy Oak Original Bottomland configuration to its AXIS 2 PRO bolt-action line on October 2, expanding the rifle into one of the most recognized camo patterns in hunting just ahead of the fall deer season. Soldier Systems Net reported the announcement.
bolt-action hunting rifle, Mossy Oak Original Bottomland stock, threaded barrel, adjustable AccuTrigger
The AXIS 2 PRO Bottomland carries the complete feature set of the base platform: a spiral-fluted barrel with factory threading, an AccuTrigger with user-adjustable pull weight, a one-piece Picatinny rail, and an ergonomic stock with adjustable length of pull via included spacers. The contoured pistol grip features ambidextrous palm swells, and the enhanced texturing on the Bottomland stock provides a more positive hold in cold or wet conditions compared to the standard synthetic. Both right- and left-hand configurations are available.
The caliber selection spans fifteen chamberings: 5.56 NATO, .22 Creedmoor, .22-250 Rem, 6mm ARC, .243 Win, 6mm Creedmoor, 6.5 Creedmoor, 7mm-08 Rem, .308 Win, .338 ARC, .350 Legend, .400 Legend, .25-06 Rem, .270 Win, and .30-06 Springfield. MSRP is $689 across all configurations.
Mossy Oak's Original Bottomland pattern was revived in recent years after a long production gap and has earned strong reception among public-land deer hunters who favor its larger-scale leaf and branch breaks over the tighter micro-pattern designs that dominate the market. The pattern's high-contrast, warm-toned autumn palette performs well in mixed deciduous and hardwood terrain — exactly the ground where most Midwest and Southeast whitetail hunting happens.
The factory-threaded barrel — now standard across the full AXIS lineup following Savage's broader platform update earlier this year — makes the rifle a suppressor-ready platform out of the box. A hunter looking to run a new can on a whitetail setup does not need to source an aftermarket threaded barrel or send the rifle out for machining. That is a practical advantage in a fall season when suppressor ownership has expanded significantly after the NFA Form 4 registration requirement was suspended by federal court order in August.
The $689 MSRP puts the AXIS 2 PRO Bottomland alongside the Ruger American Rifle Hunter and comparable mid-entry bolt guns, while offering features that buyers at this price point often pay more to find: an adjustable trigger, a one-piece rail, and a factory left-hand option. For hunters finalizing their deer season setup, the Bottomland configuration is on dealer shelves now.
