Radian Weapons Completes Gen 6 Lineup With Afterburner and Ramjet for the Glock 17

Radian Weapons has released the AFTERBURNER + RAMJET ported barrel and compensator combo for the Glock 17 Gen 6, completing the company's Gen 6 lineup, The Firearm Blog reported October 27. Radian introduced the system for the Glock 19 and Glock 45 Gen 6 in April, noting at that time that a G17 version was in development.

The combo pairs Radian's AFTERBURNER, a 4.9-inch ported 416R stainless steel barrel in the company's Radianite bronze or black PVD finish, with the RAMJET compensator, which attaches via the proprietary INTRA-LOK interface rather than conventional barrel threads. The threadless design requires no timing or crush washer and eliminates the tool dependency of threaded compensator setups. Radian advertises up to 44 percent recoil reduction with the system installed, with the ported barrel channeling gas upward through matching ports in the compensator body.

The G17 Gen 6 variant is engineered specifically for Gen 6 geometry. Radian has been consistent that the system is not cross-compatible with Gen 5 or earlier pistols—differences in the barrel's locking surfaces and bore axis alignment make interchanging generations a reliability liability. The same specificity applies across the rest of the lineup: each frame size and generation receives a dedicated unit.

For competition-oriented G17 owners, the longer barrel and heavier slide of the 17 platform generally deliver more gas flow to the compensator compared to compact variants, giving the RAMJET more to work with. The assembled pistol with the AFTERBURNER and RAMJET installed fits standard Glock 34-length holsters, which covers a large share of the USPSA and IDPA equipment-legal holster options on the market.

The combo retails at an MSRP of $389.95, matching the price of the G19 and G45 Gen 6 versions released in April. It is available in black PVD and bronze Radianite finishes, with part numbers R0988 (bronze) and R0989 (black). Retailer stocking levels vary; some distributors are showing immediate availability while others list short backorders. CADRE Dispatch, Safariland's industry newsletter, confirmed the system's INTRA-LOK interface design and listed pricing consistent with the earlier Gen 6 variants.

The October arrival of the G17 combo rounds out Radian's complete Gen 6 coverage across the three most popular Glock 9mm frame sizes. The company has not announced specific timing for additional Gen 6 variants but has indicated further frame sizes are on the roadmap.
