Military Armament Corporation introduced the MAC RA-9 SPORT on September 8, adding an aluminum-framed competition variant to the RA-9 chassis pistol family the brand launched roughly a week earlier. Built on the same serialized RA9 Monoblock System fire-control chassis as the rest of the RA-9 lineup, the SPORT replaces the polymer grip module with a machined aluminum unit finished in black and orange, giving the platform a heavier and more rigid feel suited to range training and competition use. The RA-9 SPORT carries an MSRP of $699.99.
The SPORT specification centers on a 4.75-inch QPQ-coated barrel housed in a lightened, window-cut slide. Sighting upgrades include a fiber-optic front post paired with a fully adjustable target rear sight, a step up from the standard rear found on base RA-9 models. The slide is optics-ready for direct-mount micro red dots, and the frame carries an integrated Picatinny accessory rail forward of the triggerguard. A safety-tabbed trigger, metal magazine well funnel, and metal magazine base plates complete the competition-oriented package. The pistol ships standard with two 17-round magazines in the widely available CZ 75-pattern double-stack format.
Military Armament Corporation, operating under the SDS Arms distribution umbrella, debuted the broader RA-9 family in late August as the brand's first striker-fired, polymer-frame 9mm platform. The modular Monoblock chassis concept is designed for upgradability, with MAC indicating that future grip modules, barrel lengths, and caliber options are on the roadmap. The SPORT becomes the top model at launch, positioned above the standard RA-9 at $439.99 and the compact RA-9S, giving the line a clear three-tier structure from the start.
Aluminum-grip striker-fired pistols have seen steady commercial interest from practical shooters seeking the rigidity and feel of a metal frame without committing to a heavy all-steel platform.
