Lynx Defense has added a second size to its Policy backpack insert. The Policy XL is the same carrier as the existing Policy PDW insert with 4.5 inches of added height, sized for the AR pistols, short-barreled ARs, AR folders, and longer personal defense weapons the original was never cut to hold. It sells for $84.99, and the Standard stays at $74.99.

The Policy is a padded sleeve that drops into a backpack the owner already carries and turns it into a discreet gun bag. The firearm gets its own compartment, stays separated from everything else in the pack, and can be reached without digging. Since the Policy 2.0 redesign it has become a common answer for concealed carriers moving a PDW in a daypack, and the XL extends that format upward without changing anything else about it.

The XL measures 18.5 inches tall by 12 inches wide by 3.5 inches deep, against 14 inches tall for the Standard. Width and depth are untouched, which is the detail that matters for anyone already running the smaller insert: the XL sits in a larger pack the same way the Standard sits in a daypack, and every Policy attachment fits both sizes. Owners adding the taller carrier do not have to rebuy magazine holders or accessories.

Lynx Defense said the most frequent request from Policy owners was a version that would take a short AR. The Standard is cut for sub guns and compact PDWs, a list that covers the SIG MPX, CZ Scorpion, MP5 and AP5, B&T APC, Stribog, Kuna, and Flux Defense platforms. Short AR variants need the extra length, and so do the longer PDWs owners tend to move in a full-size pack rather than a daypack.

Construction carries over from the rest of the line. The shell is 1000D Cordura nylon over reinforced foam padding, with an additional foam layer at the base for packs with thin bottoms, and the hardware is metal. The insert is designed and sewn at the company's facility in Selma, North Carolina, and carries a lifetime warranty.

Both sizes are available now and sold from the same product page, which has been rebuilt around a fitment selector: the buyer picks the firearm being carried, and the page returns the correct insert size along with the matching magazine holder and attachments. For a product whose entire value depends on the gun actually fitting the sleeve, that is a more useful configuration step than a size chart.
