Heckler & Koch rounded out its VP9 family in April with the VP9CC, a purpose-built micro-compact carry pistol that shares the ergonomics and trigger of its full-size sibling while cutting overall length to 6.02 inches. HK USA began shipping the new platform to dealers that same month, with inventory confirmed at retail from May 1, at a starting MSRP of $1,049.

The VP9CC runs on a 3.12-inch cold hammer-forged barrel and weighs 17.64 ounces empty. The flush-fit magazine holds 10 rounds; an extended option bumps that to 12. HK kept the same paddle magazine release as the full-size VP9, which reverses for left-hand users, and carried over the rear charging supports — the polymer panels flanking the rear of the slide that let shooters one-hand rack against a surface. That combination of ambidextrous controls and racking aids has made the VP9 a staple in law enforcement qualification programs, and HK has transitioned them into a frame that clears most micro-9 holster standards at 1.14 inches wide.

The optics mount is one of the more technically distinctive elements of the platform. HK engineered a recessed U-channel that sits the optic 40 percent lower than a standard plate adapter, which the company says meaningfully lowers the sight axis and reduces the mechanical offset that tall-mounted micro dots introduce on compact pistols. The gun is co-engineered to accept the Vortex Defender CCW, though the mount accommodates other direct-mount optic configurations. Six interchangeable backstraps are included in the box to cover most hand sizes without aftermarket work.

The VP9CC enters a segment that has expanded aggressively since the introduction of the SIG P365. Competitors at various price points include the Glock 43X MOS, the Springfield Armory Hellcat Pro, the Smith & Wesson Shield Plus, and the KelTec SUB-SDP that reached dealers earlier this year — but the VP9 pedigree and HK's reputation for tight manufacturing tolerances give the CC a distinct argument at its price point. Guns & Ammo, which ran a first-look piece at launch, characterized the trigger feel as among the better factory units in the micro-9 class, on par with the full-size VP9 rather than the slightly heavier pulls that tend to ship in cost-optimized platforms.

HK confirmed the VP9CC meets NATO and HK's own internal military standards for pistols across all sizes — the same testing baseline applied to the full-size VP9 and its duty variants. That standard is in part a marketing claim, but it also reflects HK's insistence on running the CC through the same validation process used for full-size duty guns rather than treating it as a lighter-spec derivative.

At $1,049, the VP9CC sits above the Glock 43X MOS and Springfield Hellcat Pro but below the full-size competition segment. Whether its recessed optic mount geometry and VP9 trigger feel justify the premium over similarly spec'd micro-9 options will be the central question as more examples reach range reviewers.
