Gunwerks has introduced the GOAT, a new configuration of its ClymR bolt-action mountain rifle that integrates a titanium folding hinge into the carbon fiber stock and limits the first production run to 100 complete systems. The GOAT builds on the ClymR platform that Gunwerks has been shipping to backcountry hunters for several years, retaining the stock's patented construction — sandwiched stiffness panels encapsulated in carbon fiber — while adding a titanium hinge at the wrist that lets the rifle fold down for pack travel before locking rigid under recoil. Gunwerks says the carbon wrap keeps torsional stiffness high even with the hinge in the system. Length of pull measures 13.5 inches as delivered, with an optional recoil pad swap bringing the range to 12.75–14.5 inches.

The barrel is a C20-contour carbon-wrapped 416R stainless tube, 18 inches long, with a .750-inch muzzle diameter. Gunwerks is offering the launch edition in 6.5 PRC and 7 PRC — both flat-shooting cartridges capable at the ranges that Western mountain hunting typically demands. The assembled rifle comes in at 6 pounds 11 ounces, which is competitive with the lightest factory precision hunting rifles currently on the market.

Gunwerks is positioning the GOAT as a turnkey system rather than a bare rifle. Each of the 100 launch-edition units ships with the buyer's choice of a Revic RS18i or a March 3-24 riflescope already mounted, a custom SKB roller case, an MKC Custom Stoned Goat Knife, PEAX Backcountry Elite Trekking Poles, and five boxes of Gunwerks factory ammunition in the chosen chambering. Pricing for the complete launch bundle was not disclosed publicly. Both scope options are first-focal-plane designs well suited to the ranging demands of mountain terrain.

The decision to bundle a scope into the launch package removes the common friction of aligning optic choice, mount height, and barrel harmonics before a first season. Buyers who pick the launch edition are committing to one of two known scope platforms, which narrows the decision but simplifies the path to a field-ready system.

Gunwerks is accepting reservations. After the 100 launch-edition units are spoken for, a standard production version of the GOAT with broader configuration options is expected to follow. Buyers who want the specific launch bundle, including scope selection and the accessories package, will need to act before those units are allocated; buyers who prefer to spec their own optic can wait for the production run. The company has not announced a timeline for production-run availability or pricing.

How quickly the hundred launch-edition rifles sell through will be worth watching as a market signal. Demand for premium mountain rifle systems has run strong in 2026, and the move toward integrated folding-stock designs has gathered momentum as more hunters prioritize packability alongside precision.
