Canik has added a non-compensated variant to its MC9 Prime micro-compact carry lineup, announcing the METE MC9 Prime NC at a suggested retail price of $649.99. The Firearm Blog published coverage on Monday, and the Canik product page has full specifications and imagery live. The Prime NC delivers the complete Prime feature set — Night Fision tritium sights, an aluminum flat-face trigger, enhanced grip texture, aggressive slide serrations, and an optics-ready slide — in a traditional, non-ported configuration, without the integral compensator that defines the original MC9 Prime.

The pistol chambers 9mm and ships with a 3.63-inch barrel, giving a 17+1 capacity in a micro-compact frame that measures 6.73 inches long, 5.43 inches tall, and 1.2 inches wide. The aluminum 90-degree flat-face trigger delivers Canik's signature take-up, defined wall, and clean break. The optics-ready slide uses the Shield RMSc footprint, putting it in direct compatibility with the Holosun 407K and 507K, the Trijicon RMRcc, and the SIG ROMEOZero Elite, among others — no adapter plate required. The Outdoor Wire distributed Canik's press release, noting the pistol ships in a complete bundle: two 17-round magazines, a G-Code ambidextrous IWB/OWB holster, interchangeable backstraps, a cleaning rod, a gun lock, and a Pelican-style hard case.

The original MC9 Prime features a ported barrel and vented slide that reduce muzzle flip noticeably on rapid strings. That compensating effect is real and measurable on a timer, and for range and competition use the venting makes a clear difference. Carry shooters, however, have long flagged two complications: holsters with full muzzle coverage can trap propellant gases in ported barrels, accelerating fouling over high-round-count training use, and many carry-oriented holsters are not certified for ported-barrel models. The Prime NC addresses both concerns while preserving everything that made the original a standout in the sub-$700 optics-ready tier. At $649.99, the NC is priced identically to the compensated version, leaving the compensator-or-not question entirely in the shooter's hands.

Century Arms distributes Canik in the United States, and the brand has built a strong reputation for delivering premium feature sets at competitive price points. The MC9 Prime family now spans the base Prime with compensator, the Prime Radian collaboration, and the new NC — all sharing the same optics-ready micro-compact frame. Gun Digest also published a first look this week. Dealer availability through standard distributor channels is expected ahead of the summer carry season.
