Silent Steel, the Finnish suppressor manufacturer with a growing U.S. distribution footprint, has formally launched the Baffle Streamer Gen 2 family, a four-model line built around a redesigned 3D-printed baffle module the company says improves both sound and flash suppression over the previous generation. The Firearm Blog covered the launch on October 20. The original announcement came from Silent Steel in late September.
The Gen 2 line replaces the previous Baffle Streamer generation's machined baffles with 3D-printed modules available in two material grades. The aluminum version is aimed at hunters, competitive shooters, and general sporting use. The Inconel 718 module is intended for law enforcement, military, and professional applications where extended round counts and harsh operating conditions are the norm. Inconel 718 is a nickel-chromium superalloy used across aerospace and defense hardware for its resistance to heat and corrosion under sustained fire.
Four models make up the family. The full-size Baffle Streamer Gen 2 is the flagship, optimized for maximum sound and flash reduction. The Compact Baffle Streamer Gen 2 carries the same module technology in a shorter, lighter package. The Streamer OTB Gen 2 and XStreamer OTB Gen 2 extend over the muzzle rather than mounting ahead of it, reducing overall rifle length while maintaining the full suppressor volume. Silent Steel notes the XStreamer OTB Gen 2 ships exclusively with the aluminum module.
Every model includes an integrated Flash-Guard positioned at the front of the suppressor designed to minimize visible muzzle flash alongside its primary sound-reduction function. The most practical detail for current Silent Steel owners is the backward compatibility: Gen 2 baffle modules fit corresponding previous-generation suppressor bodies. Because the serialized component on a Silent Steel can is the tube, not the internal stack, existing owners can swap to the Gen 2 module without filing a new NFA Form 4.
The Gen 2 launch comes during an unusually active period in the suppressor market. ATF's decision earlier this year to end NFA registration requirements for suppressors, SBRs, and SBSs has driven a wave of new product launches from manufacturers across the market. Silent Steel pricing for the Gen 2 family had not been disclosed at the time of announcement. Authorized U.S. dealers and MSRP figures are expected to follow.
What to watch: Silent Steel USA has not yet published dealer distribution or MSRP for the Gen 2 models. The company is expected to announce pricing and availability in the coming weeks.
