SIG Sauer has added a short-barreled variant to its CROSS Sawtooth precision bolt-action line, releasing the CROSS Sawtooth SBR in .308 Winchester with a 12.5-inch Proof Research carbon fiber barrel. The Firearm Blog first reported the launch on November 2. With the folding stock extended, the rifle measures 33.1 inches overall; folded, it collapses to under two feet — compact enough to stow in a truck cab, an expedition pack, or the cabin of a bush plane without disassembly.
12.5-in .308 Win bolt-action SBR, folding stock, Proof Research carbon fiber barrel, 6.5 lb
At 6.5 pounds unloaded, the CROSS Sawtooth SBR sits well under most comparable .308 bolt-action platforms. Proof Research supplies the carbon fiber-wrapped barrel at a 1:10-inch twist, the same rate SIG uses across the .308 Winchester CROSS family. An aluminum M-LOK handguard extends the accessory footprint while keeping weight down, and an integrated ARCA rail runs beneath the chassis for fast attachment to a tripod or shooting sticks in the field. SIG's modular adjustable stock carries over from the standard CROSS Sawtooth, retaining length-of-pull and comb-height adjustment in any shooting position.
The SBR fills the compact end of a lineup SIG has been expanding steadily throughout 2026. The company announced .300 Blackout and .223 Wylde configurations of the CROSS Sawtooth in October, widening the platform's short-action coverage. The 12.5-inch .308 SBR pushes compactness further: at four inches shorter than the standard 16-inch CROSS Sawtooth, it trades some muzzle velocity for a folded length no other CROSS Sawtooth variant can match. Eurooptic describes the SBR as built specifically for maximum packability and high-country hunting — a description that fits the design logic SIG has been pursuing across the entire CROSS family since the platform's introduction.
As a short-barreled rifle under the National Firearms Act, the CROSS Sawtooth SBR requires the standard NFA registration and transfer process through a licensed Class III dealer. With NFA transfer timelines currently ranging from several weeks to several months depending on the dealer and processing, buyers eyeing the rifle for a 2027 hunting season have good reason to initiate paperwork sooner rather than later.
Retailers including Kygunco and Eurooptic have begun listing the CROSS Sawtooth SBR. SIG Sauer has not publicly announced an MSRP for the SBR configuration; dealer listings are the most current source for pricing. The rifle is available in Moss Green and is expected to be in stock at select dealers now.
