SIG Sauer has expanded the CROSS Sawtooth bolt-action line with new chambering options in 300 Blackout and .223 Wylde — and a third variant in 22 Creedmoor as well — as Soldier Systems Daily reported on October 2. The additions bring the Sawtooth's suppressor-ready chassis and PROOF Research carbon-fiber barrels to three new short-action calibers.

SIG CROSS Sawtooth Into 300 Blackout

The 300 Blackout model ships with a 9-inch PROOF Research carbon-fiber wrapped barrel, optimized for suppressed use with both subsonic and supersonic loads. The .223 Wylde arrives in an 11.5-inch carbon-fiber configuration. Both barrels are threaded at the muzzle and pair with the CROSS's side-folding, fully adjustable PRS stock, which collapses the rifle to a compact package for backpack carry or vehicle use.

All Sawtooth variants carry the full tactical feature set: a full-length Picatinny top rail for clip-on night-vision and thermal optics, M-LOK compatible handguards with an ARCA-interface section below for tripod and barricade mounting, and SIG's two-lug, 90-degree bolt with tool-less takedown. The folding PRS stock adjusts length of pull and comb height independently to accommodate a wide range of suppressor heights and optic mount configurations.

The expansion marks a meaningful shift in the CROSS platform's trajectory. The CROSS launched as a premium hunting rifle and later gained the Sawtooth variant in magnum chamberings such as .300 PRC. Athlon Outdoors and Shooting Illustrated, both of which covered the October 2 announcement, noted that the 300 Blackout and .223 Wylde additions push the platform into the suppressed precision and duty bolt-gun segment — a category that has grown alongside the broader availability of suppressors following recent legal developments.

The 300 BLK at 9 inches pairs cleanly with subsonic ammunition for a short-action, hearing-safe package well under 30 inches collapsed. The .223 Wylde at 11.5 inches stays in the supersonic envelope while remaining suppressor-friendly for positional shooting and NV use. The 22 Creedmoor addition rounds out the announcement for the long-range varmint and precision crowd, bringing the flat-shooting caliber's growing competition following into the CROSS's folding chassis.

Pricing for the new Sawtooth variants was not announced with the launch; the existing CROSS Magnum Sawtooth line starts at $2,499 at most major retailers. SIG has not confirmed a ship date for the three new chamberings.
