Scalarworks has rolled out a fully redesigned LEAP/08 30mm Quick-Detach Scope Mount, the Pennsylvania manufacturer announced on September 17, bringing three significant mechanical upgrades to one of the shooting industry's most recognized precision mounting platforms.

The new LEAP/08's most visible change is the No-Gap Split-Ring design, which eliminates the traditional cap gap between the upper and lower ring halves. On previous split-ring mounts, guessing how much gap to leave when torquing the caps down has long been a minor but persistent annoyance; the revised geometry removes that variable entirely and doubles as a secondary mounting surface for auxiliary optics that clamp onto the ring body.
The redesigned mount also gains Scalarworks' integrated LevelDrive® System, a built-in scope-leveling mechanism that lets the shooter align the optic to the mount without a separate bubble level or tooling. The feature addresses a setup step that normally takes extra time and equipment on the range, and it builds directly into the mount body rather than adding mass.
The third addition is KICK® Mount Ecosystem compatibility. The updated LEAP/08 accepts Scalarworks' current KICK® lineup, which lets shooters add a 12 o'clock or offset auxiliary red dot directly to the scope mount without a separate riser or rail section. That integration keeps the overall profile low and eliminates the need for co-witnessing hardware that sits above the scope tube.
Construction follows the formula that made the original LEAP/08 a go-to for precision-rifle and duty-carbine builds: the mount is precision-machined from 7075-T6 aluminum, 4140 CrMo steel, and 406 stainless steel, then finished with Type III hardcoat anodizing and Scalarworks' BlackNitride® process on the steel components. The combined result is a mount the company says maintains zero through repeated on-off cycles on any Mil-Std-1913 Picatinny rail.
The redesigned LEAP/08 is available in 1.57-inch and 1.93-inch optic height configurations, covering the most common height-over-bore preferences for both precision-rifle and carbine applications. At 1.93 inches, the mount lines up with iron-sight co-witness height on most AR-platform rifles. The lower 1.57-inch option suits bolt-action rifles where cheekweld geometry favors a closer scope-to-bore relationship.
Pricing is $419 across both heights. The mount is available now through authorized dealers and direct from Scalarworks.
For shooters already running the KICK® lineup, the compatibility upgrade is the headline benefit — they can transfer an existing auxiliary red dot from a flat-top rail to the scope mount itself, clearing rail space for a forward grip or other accessories. For anyone setting up a first LEAP/08, the LevelDrive saves a step that used to require a separate tool.
