Kinetic Development Group has introduced the BOM Series, a modular hard-mount optic platform that lets shooters configure their optic at two different heights from a single mount without purchasing separate hardware, the Seymour, Connecticut-based accessory company announced this month. The Outdoor Wire carried the launch release. At introduction, the BOM Series is the only rifle optic mount on the market purpose-built for the Aimpoint COA footprint, giving rifle users a dedicated mounting solution for Aimpoint's compact COA red dot for the first time.

The practical value proposition is straightforward. Mounting height has long been one of the more friction-heavy decisions in rifle optic setup — a shooter wanting absolute co-witness with iron sights needs a different mount height than one running a lower-third configuration or a suppressor-height offset. Until now, covering those scenarios typically required buying multiple mounts. The BOM Series ships configured to accommodate two different mounting heights from the same unit, reducing the number of separate accessories a shooter needs to stock and simplifying transitions between configurations.

The Aimpoint COA support is the more notable feature for the tactical rifle community. The COA has developed a following as a compact option in the ACRO footprint family, but dedicated rifle mounting solutions have not kept pace with the optic's adoption on carbines and short-barreled rifles. KDG says the BOM Series fills that gap, and that at launch no other rifle optic mount on the market addresses the COA footprint.

KDG built its reputation in the optic mount category primarily through the Sidelok line, a quick-disconnect system that uses a lever mechanism to detach without the zero shift associated with Picatinny-based QD solutions. The Sidelok mounts carry a loyal following in the duty and competition rifle markets, and the BOM Series extends the company's presence into hard-mount territory — a different segment with different buyers than the quick-disconnect crowd.

KDG plans to expand the BOM Series with additional optic footprints over the next six months, including Micro, RMR, DeltaPoint Pro, and LPVO configurations. That roadmap would give the BOM platform coverage across most of the common footprints currently in use on duty, competition, and precision rifle builds. Pricing for the initial BOM Series at ACRO footprint was not released at announcement.

The company is based in Seymour, Connecticut and manufactures its products domestically. The BOM Series launch follows earlier 2026 announcements in which KDG telegraphed continued investment in the optic mount category through a series of press releases outlining its product development roadmap.

As more shooters adopt pistol-footprint red dots on carbine platforms — a trend driven in part by suppressor use and the desire to run optics at a consistent index across pistol and rifle — KDG's entry with the first COA-specific rifle mount positions the company to capture early demand before competing products reach market. Expect additional BOM footprint announcements before end of year as the company fills out the family it outlined at launch.
