BANISH Suppressors has introduced its Competition Series, or COMP, and the first two models are the company's first suppressors built around a dedicated .264-caliber bore. The BANISH COMP 6.5 SS, in welded stainless steel, carries an MSRP of $1,129, and the COMP 6.5 TI, in welded titanium, lists at $1,499. The Sioux Falls, South Dakota, company announced the lineup on September 24, and both are available now through BANISH dealers.

The pitch is aimed squarely at 6.5 Creedmoor and 6mm shooters who have been running .30-caliber cans because that was what dealers had in stock. BANISH says a bore sized to the bullet keeps expanding gas working against the six-baffle stack instead of escaping past the projectile. The COMP 6.5 models are optimized for 6mm and 6.5mm short-action cartridges and are rated for centerfire calibers from .22 Creedmoor up to 6.5 PRC.

"For years, 6.5 shooters have had to give up performance by running a .30-caliber can over a .264 bullet because that's what was on the shelf," Kelly Streiff, BANISH Suppressors chief revenue officer, said in the announcement. "The COMP 6.5 models close that gap. Plus, shipping them with a two-port brake and a flat muzzle cap means customers can configure them to their specific needs."

That two-piece front end is the other headline feature. Both models ship with a two-port brake and a flat 6.5mm muzzle cap in the box. The brake trades some suppression for recoil reduction and a faster return to target, which matters to shooters spotting their own impacts on steel. The flat cap goes the other way, for maximum sound reduction.

BANISH published the numbers for both setups. Testing on a 20-inch 6.5 Creedmoor bolt-action rifle produced an average of 130.8 dB at the shooter's ear with the flat cap installed and 142.9 dB with the brake, a trade the company describes as deliberate and optional.

The two models share the same internals and dimensions and differ in material and weight:

Both cans measure 1.61 inches in diameter, use industry-standard HUB mounts, ship with a 5/8x24 direct-thread adapter and wear a Cerakote finish. The HUB interface means owners who already run HUB-pattern mounts on other rifles can move the can between guns without buying new hardware.

The COMP line sits well above the brand's entry-level stainless offerings, including the VRMT 223 SS and HNT 30 SS BANISH released this spring. Both COMP models are made in the United States and are covered by the BANISH lifetime warranty, which protects against manufacturing defects and damage from normal use. Owners can also use the BANISH Service Program for a full maintenance check within the first year of ownership.
