The Firearm Blog reports that Taurus is now shipping a threaded barrel variant of its 22TUC micro-compact, adding suppressor-ready carry to the 10-ounce tip-up pistol at an MSRP of $449.99.
The 22TUC Threaded Barrel keeps everything that made the original popular — a tip-up barrel that lets the shooter load a round by hand without racking the slide, a 9+1 capacity in .22 LR, and a width under one inch — while adding a 3.1-inch stainless barrel threaded in a standard pitch. According to the Taurus USA product page, the barrel uses a 1:10 right-hand twist and ships in a matte black finish. Overall length grows to 5.5 inches from the standard model's 5.0 inches; height is 4.35 inches; unloaded weight remains 10 ounces. Sights are fixed with an orange dot front. The press release distributed by The Outdoor Wire confirms the pistol is shipping to dealers nationwide now.
The tip-up barrel mechanism, originally designed for shooters with limited hand strength who struggle to rack a traditional slide, has gained an additional practical benefit as a suppressor host. With a can attached, the user can load a round directly into the chamber without fighting the added weight and spring tension of a threaded barrel under suppressor load — a genuine handling advantage on small-framed rimfire pistols. As The Truth About Guns noted, the $449.99 price point makes the threaded variant one of the most accessible suppressor-host handguns on the market, particularly now that the NFA tax stamp on suppressors has been eliminated, bringing Form 4 applications to record levels.
Taurus first introduced the 22TUC in 2024 as a sub-$350 .22 carry option designed around a double-action-only trigger with a heavier hammer fall for reliable rimfire ignition. The threaded variant is the company's first formal expansion of the platform toward suppressed use. Standard Taurus warranty coverage applies; the pistol ships in its standard matte black finish. The 22TUC in its original 2.5-inch-barrel configuration remains available at a $348.99 MSRP for shooters who do not need the threaded barrel.
Distributor inventory is building as the platform gains attention heading into summer; check dealer stock for initial availability.
