Osight Opens Reservations for the Osight-R Enclosed Rifle Red Dot

Osight has opened its reservation portal for the Osight-R, an enclosed-emitter rifle red dot built on the Aimpoint T1/T2 footprint, with public sale set to open September 21, 2026. Rifle Configurator, which first covered the optic when it debuted at the NRA Annual Meetings in May, described the Osight-R as a direct competitor to the Holosun AEMS and EOTech in the enclosed rifle red dot segment.

The Osight-R's reticle is a 2 MOA center dot paired with a 65 MOA ring — the circle-dot pairing that has become standard on service pistol optics and is now gaining traction in rifle-mounted enclosed sights. The optic ships with two Picatinny mount options, giving buyers immediate compatibility with the most common rail configurations without additional hardware. A dedicated night-vision brightness button keeps the optic below ambient settings for NV use without hunting through a scrolling brightness menu. Removable flip-down lens covers protect the objective and ocular glass when the optic is staged but not in use, a practical feature for working rifle builds where the optic spends time in a case or vehicle.

Battery life is rated at 180,000 hours, a figure that translates to roughly 20 years of continuous operation at standard settings. That number has become a benchmark in the enclosed-emitter category and significantly changes the battery maintenance calculus compared with optics rated in the hundreds or low thousands of hours. The Aimpoint footprint matters for the installed base as well: rifles already configured for a CompM5, T-2, or compatible clone can mount the Osight-R without changing hardware, lowering the cost of evaluation for shooters already in that ecosystem.

The enclosed-emitter rifle segment has expanded since Holosun's AEMS established a mid-price entry point, drawing shooter attention to the format's resistance to dust and debris compared with open-emitter designs. The category has since attracted additional players including EOTech, Meprolight, and Leupold, each approaching the enclosed design with different footprint and reticle choices. The Aimpoint T1/T2 footprint gives the Osight-R broad compatibility with an existing ecosystem of quick-detach mounts and standard rings, a practical selling point for shooters adding it to an established rifle setup.

Osight built its US reputation on the SE series of pistol optics, which targets the DeltaPoint Pro footprint and has positioned itself as a capable alternative to higher-priced domestic options. The Osight-R represents the brand's first public move into rifle-mounted optics, applying the same approach — competitive features at a mid-market price point — to the enclosed rifle red dot category.

Reservations are limited to one per customer. Reserved buyers receive 48-hour early access beginning September 19, followed by the general public sale September 21 through the Osight website. Whether the optic delivers on optical clarity and durability expectations will be apparent once early-access units ship and community reviews begin appearing.
