Hawke Optics Launches the Vantage HD 30 SF, Seven Illuminated Scopes for Hunters

Hawke Optics has introduced the Vantage HD 30 SF, a seven-scope riflescope series built around 30mm one-piece aluminum tubes, side-focus adjustment, and second-focal-plane reticles aimed at hunters who want meaningful features at a working-rifle price. NRA American Hunter ran a first-look piece on the line, highlighting the combination of Hawke's proprietary zero-stop system and locking turrets as the headline differentiator in the lineup's price bracket.

The optical foundation across all seven models is Hawke's System H2 glass, fully multi-coated in 11 layers. The side parallax adjustment knob sits on the left side of the scope body, accessible without removing the firing hand from the grip — a practical detail for hunters moving between targets or adjusting at first light on stand. Every model includes a removable throw lever; shooters who prefer a lower-profile look can swap it out for a standard power-change ring without any modification to the scope body.

Two magnification configurations carry the series. The 4-16×50mm is built for medium-range deer and general hunting, while the 6-24×50mm extends useful range for open-country applications where longer shots are the norm. Reticle options across the seven models include the LR2 Dot, Mil Pro II, and .223/.308 Marksman, with one model offering a Rimfire .22LR reticle for dedicated rimfire platforms. The illuminated reticle system runs in red and green with five brightness levels, offering usable settings at the low end for gray-light shooting conditions without washing out the sight picture.

The Outdoor Wire carried the launch press release from Hawke, and the brand's US publication coverage noted the zero-stop and locking turrets as features that have historically appeared on scopes costing significantly more. The locking turret system clicks into a fixed position once the shooter has confirmed zero, reducing the chance of an accidental adjustment during transport or field handling. The zero-stop adds a physical lower limit to elevation travel, so the shooter cannot turn below the established zero without a deliberate override — useful in field situations where quick elevation corrections may be needed after ranging a target.

The timing of the Vantage HD 30 SF launch positions it well ahead of fall deer seasons opening across much of the country through October and November. Hunters building a new rifle or replacing a scope before the season have a practical option here that packages the features typically associated with higher-end competition or precision scopes into a hunting-focused form factor.

At 30mm tube diameter, the Vantage HD 30 SF accepts standard 30mm rings without requiring specialty mounts, and the one-piece tube construction provides a sealed, nitrogen-purged interior that is waterproof and fog-proof.
